Spring in Boston - for cello solo (2026)

  1. Magnolia
  2. Kanzan Cherry

The spring in Boston is blooming. There are two stunning flowers, Magnolia and Kanzan Cherry. First movement: Magnolia. The Magnolia trees nearby NEC. They bloomed with white petals. The pure white petals are the specialty of this flower. However, it only bloomed for several days. Second movement: Kanzan Cherry, which I found in front of a museum. The pink flower Kanzan Cherry blooms on a sunny day.  The beauty of Kanzan Cherry surprised me. These two flowers made life colorful in the busy period.

Like Wind - for string trio (2026)

This piece expresses unbridled life. Everyone has a different definition of  unbridled life and it usually consists of small romantic moments. Such as running away on the beach, viewing the horizon of a sunset, or feeling the wind, etc.

Moreover, when I began to compose this piece, I was in LA and a part of inspiration was from Santa Monica beach which was my favorite place there. The sunshine shone, the sunset’s light poured into the ocean with the sunset horizon, and people there appeared free and unrestrained.

Performers: Bo-Yuan Jeng (Violin), Chao An Hsu (Viola), Yu-Hua Lin (Cello)

📍Tuesday Night New Music at NEC on 5/5/26.

Wander - for four hands piano (2026)

This piece expresses people who wander around the world freely like the wind. Their future, however, is uncertain. They wander in different places, but always  between pursuit and confusion.

Autumn in Boston - for flute & harp (2025)

  1. Rainy Autumn
  2. Sunny Autumn

The first autumn that I experienced in Boston was romantic. The first movement of this work is “ Rainy Autumn”. Through the window the rain is falling. The music evokes the drizzle falling on the leaves on the wet ground. The drizzle is romantic, but it also views on isolated emotion. The second movement is “ Sunny Autumn”. The sun is shining and the sky is blue. The musical feeling is the opposite of the first movement. The atmosphere is warm and energetic, and also there is a feeling of excitement for next year.

Dream Land - for string quartet (2025)

The “Dream Land” can be the place that wanted to go, the imagination of a place that never existed, or the place that hoped to live in the future and so on. This piece began with “Agitato” which feels exciting for the future. The powerful emotion also gives people courage. When it changed to “Affettuoso”, it had a slow and beautiful melody which felt real in the “Dream Land”.
